Skyline can help you decide which is the best type of Loft Conversion to suit your property, your lifestyle and your budget
Some common questions...
Q. Is my property suitable for a loft conversion? Q. Will I need planning permission approval? Q. What type of dormer would be suitable? Q. How many Velux windows should be fitted? Q. Where will the stairs go? Q. Is there enough space for a shower room? Skyline will be happy to help you assess the suitability of your loft or attic space for a conversion, offering advice on key issues such as headroom*, what dormer type is suitable, what type of staircase is needed for access and where it will be positioned, plus full information on Velux roof windows.
In some cases, local planning regulations will dictate the type of conversion permitted. Where such approvals are not needed, dormer structures can be constructed if required (depending upon sufficient headroom*), we will advise you on what type of dormer is most suitable for your property. No dormer structure needed? Then a Velux Roof Window conversion will be suitable, allowing you to have that extra room within the existing roof structure. Whichever loft type is decided upon, Skyline will make sure that a maximum floor space is created. * Note: The minimum existing headroom required by Skyline to carry out a loft or attic conversion is 2.2 metres (7 ft 3 inches approx.), this measurement is taken from the top of the existing ceiling joist to the underside of the ridge board (the apex or highest point inside the roof). |
Sometimes the new staircase may be able to go in various locations, and there may also be options for the position of the new door; either at the top of the new stairs or maybe at the bottom which in turn would give the new Loft room area an Open Plan Style.
Skyline will organise the architectural drawings and offer a design for your approval, amendments (if required) can be made to the drawings before they are finalised. Once finalised, the drawings will initially be used to obtain Planning Permission (where required), structural calculations and to submit with the Building Regulations Application. If you already have the architectural drawings Skyline will be happy to offer a quotation or estimate based on the drawings provided to us. Whatever the layout and design, Skyline will provide practical, helpful advice to ensure you get the perfect solution for your loft space and the best value for your money. |
